The Chisinau City Hall will review the contracts with the private carriers working on the urban bus route No. 23 and the suburban bus routes No. 10 and No. 28. Currently, these are subsidized from the municipal budget alongside the similar bus routes managed by the Chisinau Urban Bus Company, IPN reports.

In the December 30 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban expressed his indignation at the fact that the private operators receive subsidies from the municipal budget. The three bus routes are profitable and the municipality should review the contracts signed with these operators.

Chisinau Urban Bus Company director Vitalie Copaci said the municipality signed the contracts with the two companies that manage the three routes in 2013-2014 because the municipal transport operator didn’t have sufficient units to cope with the flow of passengers. The given bus routes work in conditions similar to those of the routes managed by the municipality and get budget subsidies because the real cost of a bus trip is 10.5 lei. The given transport operators serve 14 categories of passengers who travel free or with cheaper season tickets.
