On the 135th anniversary of the death of poet Mihai Eminescu, the Chisinau City Hall stages a tribute event. The event will take place on Saturday evening in :Mihai Eminescu: square in Chisinau, IPN reports.
“The event will pay tribute to the literary genius through a musical-poetic show entitled “I never thought I would ever learn to die”, which will reflect the personality, intellect and soul of the great poet,” reads a press release.
Eminescu’s face will be projected on the screen and the actors will wear black-white and cream-white costumes, symbolizing the purity and depth of the artist.
The event will start at 06.00 p.m. with a performance of music by the Elite Quartet. At about 06:30 p.m., there will be the official opening and the screening of a documentary film. Prologues will be given Ninela Caranfil, Nicolae Jelescu and Margareta Nazarchevici. Subsequently, students of “Mircea Eliade” High School will stage a performance.
The program also includes a poetic dialogue between Iurie Pascar and Doina Arvat, a folklore recital given by Andrei and Andreea Cărăuș, as well as a poetic and musical recital held by actors of “Mihai Eminescu” National Theatre. At around 07:30 p.m., there will be a final musical program with Elite Quartet and s closing poetic dialogue.
Mihai Eminescu died on June 15, 1889. The poet passed away in the health home of Dr. Șuțu in Bucharest.
