More than 200 young and elderly people equipped with spades and buckets planted trees in “Valea Morilor” Park in Chisinau within the National Greening Day. The event is themed “A Tree for our Eternity”, IPN reports.
Attending the event, Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said he didn’t plan beforehand how many trees to plant. His participation is symbolic as he wanted to encourage the people to take part in the greening activities. Asked by the journalists when he will get married, the mayor said that his house in Colonita is being repaired. There is a well, but it also must be repaired. He planted trees and will think about having children when the planting event is over.
Deputy mayor Vladimir Cotet said he was planting the second tree, but there is yet plenty of time until evening. It is important that all the saplings develop roots. More trees will be planted in the area next year as it must be greened according to the general plan for developing “Valea Morilor” Park.
Volunteer Ruslan Coperishnyi said he intends to plant 13 trees because he was born on the date of 13. “It’s not hard to plant trees when you think about nature and the children. A child, a house and a tree – this is what every man wants,” he stated.
About 15,000 saplings and buses will be planted in all the parks of Chisinau and its suburbs on October 26.
Representatives of the central authorities planted trees on the National Greening Day in different settlements of the country.
