Chisinau City Hall rooms disputed in court

A Chisinau economic entity intends to privatize the rooms that it leases on the first floor of the Chisinau City Hall’s building, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca informed. According to the mayor, the owner of “Paradis” shop wants to gain the right of ownership over the area after carrying out repair works inside the rooms, Info-Prim Neo repots. Chirtoaca said that representative of the company, which has leased the rooms from the Chisinau City Hall since 1992, filed an application to cancel the lease and demanded that they are allowed to privatize the shop. Asked if he talked to the shop’s administration, Dorin Chirtoaca said: “I asked him (the representative of the shop e.n.) to give up”, adding that he found out about this case last week. Sources in the Chisinau City Hall said that during 1992-1994, the firm “Costache si Ion”, which was later reorganized into SRL “Paradis”, repaired the leased rooms. The carried out repair works were accepted by specialized divisions of the City Hall, which drew up a report. On the basis of this report, the administration of the shop demanded that the leased rooms be transferred under its ownership, but its request was rejected. After several hearings, the case reached the Chisinau District Economic Court and is to be examined on September 22, 2008. Info-Prim Neo’s reporter tried for several times to find out the position of the shop’s administration, but representatives of SRL “Paradis” refused to comment on the City Hall’s statements or to say how the company’s management can be contacted.
