Chisinau City Hall ready to become involved in repair of Presidential Building
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the Capital Constructions Division to provide information about the costs of repair works on the Presidential Building so as to examine the possibility of becoming involved in this project, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We want to see the current situation. I think that all the authorities should make a concerted effort to deal with this problem. We must economize on everything and direct this money to the needs of the community. We will consider if we can become involved this year,” the mayor said on Tuesday.
The Presidential Building and the Parliament Building were destroyed during the April 7, 2009 protests. During the first two years, money for repair works had been allocated from the state budget, but in 2011 and 2012 no financial resources were earmarked and the works were stopped.
The Presidential Building is 50% ready. A sum of 112 million lei is needed to finish the repair works. This sum does not include the costs for outfitting the offices.
