Chisinau City Hall proposes setting up 30,000 parking places
The Chisinau City Hall submitted a project to build 30,000 parking places during the next several years to the Municipal Council for consideration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The proposal forms part of the study of the precipitability concerning the setting up of parking lots in Chisinau, worked out by the Chisinau-Proiect Institute. “Over 10,000 new parking places will be built in the city's historical center, on the streets Alexei Mateevici, Albisoara, Mihai Viteazul and Ismail.
According to deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, there will be set up several types of parking lots – in parallel with the street, perpendicularly and obliquely. The parking tickets will cost between 2 and 6 lei an hour. The places in central Chisinau will be the most expansive. The parking lots will be outfitted with video cameras and parking meters. The payments will be made in cash, by card and through SMS.
More than 100 million lei is needed to implement the project. The investments would be recouped in seven years. If the Chisinau Municipal Council approves the initiative, there will be drawn up technical projects for every street, starting with Columna, where the building works will be covered by the municipal administration. Later, companies will be able to win the right to set up and manage parking lots by public tender contest.
