Chisinau City Hall promises passable streets in winter
The Chisinau authorities pledge they will make everything possible for the streets to be passable in winter. In Monday's ordinary meeting of City Hall officials, the head of the Public Transport and Communications Division Veaceslav Tarna said the road workers will continue to repair the streets until the weather is fine, but the special vehicles are prepared to deal with the challenges of winter, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asked the economic entities to help the local authorities to clean the snow and ice from roads when need be. He also urged the drivers to put on the winter tires on time so as to avoid traffic accidents. Usually, most of the accidents in winter happen during the first days of December, said the mayor.
In the same meeting, officials of the municipal companies Lumteh and the Green Areas Association said ornamental street lighting started to be placed on Stefan cel Mare Blvd, the section between the streets Armeneasca and S. Lazo, and in the Central Garden. The square of the Opera House and the Cathedral's Park will be also festooned with lights.
Eliferie Haruta, the head of the Green Areas Association, said the fir tree that will be set up in central Chisinau will be bought either in Gratiesti or in Chisinau.
