Chisinau City Hall presents model minibus
The Chisinau City Hall Monday showed how a minibus running on route in the capital city should look. It has an additional row of seats and does not enable to transport passengers standing. The head of the Public Transport and Communication Division Adrian Boldurescu said the minibuses can be also equipped with a system that will prevent them from traveling at a speed higher than 50 km/h, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Adrian Boldurescu, they are discussing the possibility of implementing this speed limiting systems with a number of technical stations.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said the carrier’ request to increase the minibus fare will be examined by the Municipal Council on June 14, while from June 15 fines will be imposed for every violation. “The fate of the carriers is in their hands because the City Hall took practically all the necessary measures. Among the remaining problems are how the minibuses can stop at stations when vehicles are parked illegally there, how to fluidize traffic and how to set up the road signs,” he stated.
The carriers demand raising the minibus fare from 3 lei to 5 lei.
