The Chisinau City Hall plans for the coming year to authorize sewerage projects for all the zones, streets and even private houses from the capital, and by 2008 to finalize the sewerage works in the entire municipality, including suburban settlements. “It is abnormal to exist zones in Chisinau not being supplied with sewerage system only if this thing is not wanted or money was insufficient”, interim mayor Vasile Ursu stated on Monday November 6. The cited source mentioned that the municipality wants to equalize facilities between suburban settlements and city as concerns the public utilities. Unfortunately, such problems are still persisting in the center of the capital and in Buiucanii Vechi district, where there are about 10 outskirts without aqueduct and sewerage. At the same time, Ursu says that in the center of the city the works performed to the sewerage network will wait a bit, due to the planned renovation of Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard. According to Ursu, it is irrational to start the sewerage works, spending millions lei and afterwards find out that the ways of access for the city’s strategic objectives, set in the project of the General Urban Plan were deteriorated. According to the interim mayor, the City Hall is to finalize the gasification works in all the settlements of the municipality by 2008.
