Chisinau City Hall launches campaign to combat corruption
“Do not take and do not give bribes,” Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca urged, when launching a campaign aimed at combating corruption in the subdivisions of the municipal administration. The mayor proposed that the campaign be titled “Chisinau Without Corruption!”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In Monday's meeting of City Hall officials, the mayor said he heard that there are corrupt persons within the municipal divisions who take bribe in exchange for concessions.
“A capital city without corruption is my personal objective and the goal of the team with whom I work. The first day I entered the City Hall I said that corruption will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, it is hard to combat corruption in Moldova. You catch employees taking bribe and fire them, but they soon come back with a court decision on their reinstatement. I can mention here the cases of Budurin, Tudosie, Ciobanu and others. Others become more courageous when they see that the court reinstates persons caught red-handed,” Dorin Chirtoaca said.
The mayor called on the inhabitants of Chisinau to inform about all the cases when municipal servants ask for bribe. “As Mihai Ghimpu said, those who will be caught, will be beheaded,” Dorin Chirtoaca said, adding this threat applies to all the servants, regardless of their political orientation.
The people can inform the local authorities about corruption acts on 20-15-22 or 20-15-43.
