Chisinau City Hall invites ideas from the next generation

Chisinau City Hall authorities are hoping to obtain new ideas in solving the municipality’s problems as a result of cooperating with the students that form the so-called Local Council of Children and Youth (CLCT). CLCT is an association of young persons concerned about the problems of their communities. This concept formed the central part of a seminar themed “Forms and Methods of Youth Participation in Community Problems”, held on May 23, Info-Prim Neo reports. “By building a partnership with the young generation, which is eager to participate in the process of resolving everyday problems, we increase our chances to overcome this multitude of challenges” said Vitalie Lavric, head of the City Hall’s public administration department. For this purpose, CLCT-Chisinau members, school officials and local authorities discussed at the seminar methods of involving the youth in the process of solving the problems of the society. CLCT-Chisinau was founded in June 2007 under the aegis of the City Hall. This youth assembly is part of the project “Consultative youth councils – methods of involving the youth in the local government”, implemented by the National Center for Youth Resources in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Youth, with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy and the OSCE Mission to Moldova. CLCT brings together 40 children and teenagers, who have undertaken a number of charity and environment-related activities.
