Chisinau City Hall increases number of recipients of compensations for heat
A higher number of persons will benefit from compensations for heat the next year. Under the regulations concerning the provision of compensations for persons on low income, the Chisinau authorities in 2010 will provide compensations not only to those who are connected to the centralized heating system, but also to the persons who have individual heating systems and those who use wood and coal to heat their homes, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Chisinau residents earning less than 1,450 lei a month per person, who have individual heating systems or heat their homes with wood and coal, will receive by 250 lei monthly from the City Hall.
The persons who receive compensations from the Government will also receive compensations from the City Hall. In 2009, the 11 vulnerable groups of persons benefited from compensations for heat either from the central authorities or from the local authorities.
About 40,000 persons receive an average compensation for heat of 216 lei in Chisinau at present (40% of the heating bill). As the heating with wood and coal is more expensive, the Chisinau administration decided to allocate by 250 lei from the local budget to every recipient.
The compensation for central and individual heating will be transferred to Termocom and Chisinau- Gaz. Those who heat their homes with wood and coal will receive the money themselves.
About 98 million lei will be used to pay compensations in 2010.
