The Chisinau City Hall will provide financial support to 103 invalids and widows of the Afghan war from the municipal social support fund, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the Chisinau City Hall says the 500 lei will be given on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan, which is marked on February 15. The recipients can take the money at the branches of Banca de Economii starting with February 12, after presenting the identity card. The Chisinau City Hall will also organize events to commemorate the victims of the armed conflict in Afghanistan, including laying of flowers at the monument to the heroes who died in the Afghan war, which was erected in Rascani district, and charity meals. About 12,500 Moldovans took part in the war in Afghanistan. 300 of them died, while 257 remained invalids.
