An employee of the Chisinau City Hall working in the alternative civil service of the Rascani district head’s office is investigated for passive corruption. As a result of special investigation measures, the man was arrested for 72 hours, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the functionary asked and received 12,000 lei from the relatives of a young man for organizing his civil service and making a soldier’s record book for him later.

If his blame is proven, the functionary will serve up to seven years in jail and will pay a fine of at most 300 000 lei. This would also be barred from holding public posts for a period of five to ten years.

The investigation is conducted by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
