The Chisinau City Hall cannot provide information when exactly the Valea Morilor Lake will be cleaned. Last week the vice-mayor Veaceslav Iordan declared that the evacuation of the lake’s waters will start in October, while interim mayor Vasile Ursu declared for the press on Tuesday, October 3, that the renovation could start in November, Info-Prim Neo announces. According to Vasile Ursu, a concept of the renovation of the area is currently elaborated. The most expensive action is the cleaning of the lake’s basin, which comprises water and mud evacuation. Specialists have checked the sewers from Vasile Lupu Street until Calea Iesilor Street, and almost all of it was filled with mud. Ursu declared that a cleaning scheme for these sewers will be presented during a meeting scheduled for Friday, October 6. According to the interim mayor, the expenses for these works will be pretty high, as once the water from Valea Morilor Lake starts to be evacuated the sewers must handle considerable amount of water to prevent floods in the region. Vasile Ursu also announced that the overall cost of the lake cleaning was not established, but will be ready in two weeks. The Valea Morilor Lake hasn’t been cleaned for 14 years.
