The Chisinau City Hall provided 240 scholarships of 1 000 lei each on the eve of Chisinau’s Day, Info-Prim Neo reports. “As usual, there were awarded the students who won different contests and to personalities from different fields. These scholarships have been offered for 15 years. Initially, we awarded several dozens, but now provide 240. A contest is held and a special commission selects those who deserve the scholarships,” said the head of the Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said these scholarships should serve as a stimulus for other persons who were close to receiving such awards. “Unfortunately, we often make mistakes because we are envious. I wish the young persons and personalities who obtained merit scholarships to help other people to achieve results so that we have more candidates next year,” said the mayor. Those who received scholarship are students of different education institutions and celebrities from different areas suggested by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
