Chisinau City Hall and Polish region Mazovia will develop cooperation relations

Poland intends to develop and consolidate the relations existing between the Chisinau administration and the Polish local authorities, Polish officials told the new mayor of the capital, Dorin Chirtoaca, at a meeting on July 4. The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Commission for Foreign Cooperation of the Seim of the Mazovia Voivodship, Artur Buczynski, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Moldova Krzysztof Suprowicz. The mayor expressed his readiness to contribute to the development of the bilateral relations between Chisinau and Polish local authorities. He stressed the importance of learning from the Polish experience in different areas, especially given that Poland is a member of the European Union. The interlocutors expressed willingness to hold a meeting between the administration of Chisinau and of the Mazovia region, where businesspeople from the two countries will establish cooperation relations. They also suggested making an exchange of books between the Chisinau and Mazovia libraries. The municipality of Chisinau has already established cooperation relations with representatives of the local public administration of Poland. The Chisinau City Hall and the Lubuskie Voivodship signed a town-twinning agreement last year. For 13 years the Chisinau lyceum “Nicolai Gogol” has taught classes in the Polish language, which are attended by over 120 students. A Polish Culture Center will be inaugurated in the municipal library “B. P. Hasdeu” in October.
