The Chisinau City Hall and its subdivisions as from March 17 will work behind closed doors, mayor Ion Ceban was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference. “We continue the campaign “Stay at home”. We ask you not to come to the City Hall, especially the elderly people who often come after social assistance. We inform you that this will be reoriented to the domicile,” stated the mayor.
Given the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Ion Ceban said this is the last face-to-face meeting with journalists. For safety reasons, the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions was annulled and the IT specialists were entrusted with the task of organizing online meetings that would involve all the officials of municipal divisions. The first online meetings will be held by this Thursday.
A cell crisis was created at municipal level to monitor the situation and to support the beneficiaries of social assistance. The cell will daily monitor the situation of elderly people, single persons with disabilities and will inform the beneficiaries of social assistance about the measures that should be taken to prevent infection with COVID-19.
The local medical organizations situated in the city’s districts must provide disinfection solutions and masks to patients, if necessary. The medical personnel were supplied with protective masks, gloves, disinfectants and thermometers. The persons who are in quarantine at home will be supervised by phone.
Ion Ceban also said that a volunteering platform to help elderly people, single persons and those with special needs was launched. The volunteers will coordinate their activities with officials of local social assistance divisions. The persons of the given categories can ask for assistance from the General Social Assistance and Health Division and the local social assistance divisions by phone.
