Chisinau Circus building put on privatization list
The list of State assets out for privatization was extended by over 60 assets, including the Chisinau Circus building. The decision has been taken on Wednesday, July 4, at a Government meeting, reports Info-Prim Neo.
“Leaving this building in the state that it presently is will destroy it completely”, said Vlad Filat referring to the capital’s Circus. According to the Premier, he has been unsuccessfully trying for 3 years to obtain a renovation project for the building.
The Ministry of Culture proposes to operate the building through a public-private partnership, said deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica.
Valeriu Lazar told journalists that the Ministry of Economy, together with the Ministry of Culture will look for ways to attract private funds for the renovation of the cultural asset. “I would also like for many buildings to remain the property of the State, but if the State has no budget for maintenance and investment, these buildings degrade”, said the Minister.
Three JSCs were privatized last week: “Viorica-Cosmetic”, canned foods factory in Cosnita, and Wine Factory in Saratenii-Vechi. Presently, there are 146 enterprises, with predominantly State capital, that are out of privatization.
