Chisinau central streets will have new name plates
The Chisinau City Hall will allocate 700,000 lei for the replacement or repairs of street name plates and block number plates in Centru district. These works, if done throughout the entire city, would cost the Municipality millions of lei, reports Info-Prim Neo.
Head of the General Residential-Communal and Establishment Division Petru Gontea stated that 110,000 were allotted for changing the plates on Streets A. Mateevici, Ciuflea, Mihai Viteazu and Albisoara. In order to replace the stolen plates, or repair the broken ones, throughout the Center district, will require another 600,000 lei.
Petru Gontea says that in the case of private realty or of residential blocks the responsibility falls upon the owners and, respectively, upon the residents of the block, but nobody does anything about it.
A plate displaying the number of a building costs 37 lei. The plates with street names are more expensive. The cost of one single letter is 14.4 lei. Thus, a plate for Sarmizegetusa Street, for instance, costs about 190 lei.
The first street name plates and identification numbers were changed 20 years ago, and the last ones in 2005.
