The icon of all the saints that guard and have guarded Moldova has been hallowed today during the Liturgy dedicated to the Chisinau annual fete, to the 570 years since the first attestation of the city and 170 since the construction, by Bishop Banulescu-Bodoni, of the Metropolitan Cathedral “Lord’s Birth”. The liturgy was commenced by the Bishop of Chisinau and of the Whole Moldova, Vladimir, together with members of the Saint Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova and a group of priests. The Bishop praised the Holy Virgin, the Chisinau protector, hollowed the new icon with the 12 saints that guard all of Moldova’s inhabitants, including Saint Parascheva, Saint Teodora from Sihla, Saint Ioan cel Nou from Suceava, Saint Bishop Dosoftei, Saint Petru Movila. In the morning, the Chisinau authorities and officials of different levels lay flowers at the monument of Stefan cel Mare. After this homage, the municipal authorities, several deputies, and guests from 13 cities took part in the Liturgy. As 6 years ago, when the Chisinau Church was established, the icon of the “Holy Virgin Covering” is found in the belfry in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
