Moldova’s capital Chisinau on October 14 observed its Patron Saint Day (Hram Day) and the 582nd anniversary of its first attestation. On this occasion, artistic programs were presented in central Chisinau along Ștefan cel Mare Blvd and in the Great National Assembly Square. There were also mounted exhibitions of handicrafts, floral arrangements, paintings, books, graphic works and other things, IPN reports.
Acting mayor general of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said that he and his colleagues are making every effort for the city to become more comfortable and safe. “We congratulate you on the occasion of this holiday. We have today a special program for each inhabitant of Chisinau, for our guests. Our most sincere and warmest greetings. Long live Chisinau!” he stated.
Ionel Florian Lixandru, secretary of state at the Ministry of Education of Romania, said he was taking part in the festivities held to celebrate the Hram Day of Chisinau for the second consecutive year. He noted his presence in Chisinau as the secretary of state is a guarantee of Romania’s good relations of communication and support with the Republic of Moldova. “Romania continues to support the education perspective, the Republic of Moldova’s integration into the big family of the European Union, offering many students the opportunity of studying in Romania,” noted Ionel Florian Lixandru.
Mayor of the Romanian town Șimleu Silvaniei Septimiu Cătălin Țurcaș said the locality he represents has twinning relations with Râșcani district of Chisinau and this does not mean only official meetings, but also opportunities offered to students from Chisinau to study in the Romanian town and to take part in different competitions and contests. “This year is very important for us, the Romanians , as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Union and it is regrettable that Romania is not yet reunified. Uniting with the motherland is the simplest way for the Republic of Moldova to become part of the European Union,” he stated.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip transmitted a message on the occasion of Chisinau City’s Day. “On the Hram Day of Chisinau, I wish our capital city to continue to grow and to become more beautiful, keeping its wonderful traditions and respecting its history. Dear citizens of Chisinau, I wish you to have more reasons to be proud of our city and try each day to make it better. Long live!”, the Premier said in a post on Facebook.
President Igor Dodon posted a message by which he congratulated the inhabitants of Moldova on the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God that is celebrated on October 14. “Let the Mother of God care for us and protect us from all evils. Today we also celebrate one of the nicest holidays of Chisinau – the Hram Day - and observe the 582nd anniversary of its first attestation. Let this day bring happiness and welfare in your homes,” said the President.
The program dedicated to the Hram Day of Chisinau ended with a performance of music in the central square of Chisinau. This featured famous artists, symphonic and folk music orchestras, including the band“Zdob și Zdub” and Romanian singer Connect-R.
