Chisinau Bus Company could receive 20 new buses
A draft decision on purchasing 20 new buses through public auction and increasing the statutory capital of the Chisinau Bus Management is included in the agenda of the Chisinau Municipal Council, planned for May 3. According to the draft decision, the General Finance Department will present proposals to locate resources.
According to a Plan on the development of the infrastructure of Chisinau for 2007 it is planned to purchase 50 units of public transport, reads the informative note attached to the draft decision.
According to the persons in charge from the Department for Public Transport and Communication Ways (DPTCW), CBM has at present 199 buses, of which only 120 or 60% can be used. Other 79 buses are old, being used for more than 15 years, and 36 of them are not working for already 3 years. Repairing the buses would be expensive and irrational. Because of the lack of buses, the circulation of buses on the route 13, 15, 19, 26 and 29 was suspended, and on several routes the number of buses was significantly reduced.
DPTCW considers it is time to supplement the stock with 50 new buses, of which 20 – of medium capacity and 30 of large capacity.
The City Hall of Chisinau sent a letter to the Government in March, by means of which it asks about MDL 100 mln from the state budget for purchasing public transport units.
The agenda of the Chisinau Municipal Council has 33 items, including on the restructuring of the municipal budget for 2007 on the basis of available surplus financial means and the incomes obtained from capital operations. Also, the councillors will discuss the issuance of the guarantee letters for offering preferential credits to several categories of population, the issue on increasing the tuition fees for the music and art schools.
