Chisinau budget approved in final reading

The budget of the municipality of Chisinau for 2011 was approved in final reading on February 10. It provides for revenues of 1.889,4 billion lei (including 73.5 million transferred from the state budget), and an expenditure of 2.310,0 billion lei. Deputy mayor Mihail Furtuna said the deficit of 420.5 million lei is to be covered with revenues from the sale of public property. Over 40% of the budget will go to the education sector. The rest of the money was distributed in a balanced way. “It is important that every division use the money efficiently,” Mihail Furtuna stated for Info-Prim Neo. He did not rule out that discrepancies in figures can appear when the state budget is adopted. Adjustments will be made if need be. The chairman of the Chisinau Municipal Council Ghenadie Dumanschi stressed that this is the last bugger approved by the Council in the current composition. “I consider that this is the best budget in the last four years,” he said. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the municipality does not work at a loss. Even if the revenues are small, there are prospects and this is important, he stated. The investments per capita in Chisinau in 2011 are €34, as against €19.62 last year. The Communist faction abstained from voting.
