A bus running on the Chisinau-Bucharest route started to burn when travelling on the Chisinau-Leușeni road, near Bujor village of Hâncești district, in the morning of January 19. The bus burned completely. Fortunately, the five persons who were on the bus went out swiftly and weren’t hurt.
A team of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations travelled to the scene. The Inspectorate’s press officer Liliana Pușcașu has told IPN that the fire was localized in 45 minutes and was fully extinguished about an hour later.
Contacted by IPN for details, senior press officer of the Hâncești Police Inspectorate Cristina Vicol said the bus was returning from Romania. The vehicle’s engine caught fire while the bus was in motion. There were five persons on the bus and none of them suffered injuries. The bus was fully destroyed. The damage and circumstances are being determined.
The bus driver was tested with a Drager device. This showed that the man wasn’t inebriated.
