Chisinau-Barcelona and Chisinau-Paris flights cancelled as of March 13

The Republic of Moldova closes its airspace for the regular flights from Spain and France as of this midnight. In connection with the measures taken to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Chisinau-Barcelona and Chisinau-Paris flights are annulled. As of March 15, midnight, flights from the European side are suspended in general, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated after the meeting of the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health, IPN reports.

The foreign citizens will be unable to use aircraft to come to Moldova, except for accredited diplomats, stateless persons and those who have the residence in Moldova, noted Premier Chicu.

It should be noted that the flights to and from Italy were suspended on March 12.

Ion Chicu also said that the Moldovan authorities are in contact with the Ukrainian authorities given that the latter intend to close a number of terrestrial border crossing points.

Update /4:18pm/ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration published the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health’s decision saying that the Civil Aviation Authority will make sure that the regular flights with Italy, Spain and France are suspended as of March 15, midnight. The regular flights with Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, the UK, Poland, Portugal, and Romania will be halted on March 16, midnight.
