The Chisinau water supplier imposed fines of more than 51,000 lei for the nonpayment of bills for water and for the illegal construction of buildings on water and sewerage networks, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, SA Apa-Canal Chisinau says the company’s specialists discover more and more irregularities as regards the connection to the water supply and more cases of nonpayment of bills. Over 300 proceedings have been instituted so far this year. The imposed fines totaled over 51,000 lei.  

The water supplier warns that those who steal or try to steal water, besides fines, face criminal punishment for theft.
