Traditionally, on Memorial Easter*, Chisinau authorities will provide free transport to “St. Lazarus” Cemetery, the city’s largest. The City Hall PR department has said free transport will be provided by a specially opened bus route called “D”, as well as the regular routes 10 and 27. In addition, the number of electric cars on the routes 24, 25 and 26 are expected to be increased to meet the demand for public transport going to the city’s largest cemetery. The road to the cemetery will be closed to private vehicle traffic, as instructed by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. [*Memorial Easter] is a holiday that falls on the next Sunday and Monday after Easter Sunday, on which people go to the cemetery to commemorate dead relatives and friends.
