Chisinau authorities to auction plots of land

The Chisinau administration will earn at least 17 million lei from the sale of several dozens of plots by public auctions. A contest will be held to select the organizer of the auctions, Info-Prim Neo reports. At Tuesday's meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, it was decided that there will be sold several dozens of plots that occupy a total area of about 6 hectares. The land will be mainly used to build private houses and social and cultural facilitates on. The chief architect of Chisinau Vlad Modarca, who is also the head of the General Division of Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations, said the initial price of the plots could be doubled or even trebled. The proposal to strike off the list several plots located on Bucovinei St made by the Communist councilor Valery Pavlov was rejected by a majority of votes. But Social-Democrat Emil Gutu's proposal to include one more plot in the list was accepted. The commission for the organization and holding of land auctions and contests in the municipality of Chisinau was entrusted with the task of organizing a public contest to chose the auctioneer during a month. The previous auctioneer's mandate expired though the local authorities sold no plot of land this year. Humanist councilor Oleg Onishchenko expressed his indignation at the situation created by the municipal authorities and said the auctioneer could sue them for lack of responsibility. Unaffiliated councilor Oleg Cernei reproached Oleg Onishchenko, who headed the organizational commission earlier, for not contributing to the approval of related decisions. Under the legislation, the contest is open to legal entities that have skilled personnel and experience in organizing and holding auctions.
