Chisinau authorities demand that owners of bars and restaurants invest more in hygiene

The Mayor of Chisinau requested the owners of bars, cafes and restaurants in Chisinau to invest in ensuring high quality hygiene standards. Dorin Chirtoaca stated at the City Hall’s meeting on Monday, September 10, that the kitchens and toilets in the facilities providing such services should reach the level of those in hotels at least. The Mayor asked the Department for Trade and Public Alimentation to formulate a set of requirements concerning this issue, which will have to be respected by the entrepreneurs. The Mayor stated that the investments of the economic agents will rapidly be recouped, as people choose restaurants according to the quality of services first, and only then they look at the proposed food. The Chief of the Department of Trade and Public Alimentation, Vladimir Nirca, said that at this moment, the only efficient way for compelling economic agents to respect the hygiene norms is to suspend their activity until the moment they match the requirements.
