Chisinau authorities are indignant at the actions taken by Transnistrian separatist forces in Corjova
Moldova’s authorities are indignant at the new provocation in Corjova village, Dubasari. Following a new violent action by the Tiraspol Administration, the polling station in the locality was seized, the rural electors being thus deprived of the right to participate in the repeat local elections, a communiqué of the Ministry for Reintegration reads.
According to the cited source, the inhuman provocation by the Transnistrian Administration is again a proof that the regime installed in the region is basically a totalitarian one, which keeps the inhabitants in the eastern districts as hostages and terrorizes Moldova’s citizens. “We are sorry that, despite all the made efforts, and the involvement of the international community, Tiraspol has taken a new violent action, which represents a challenge to the entire international community” the statement also reads.
The Ministry for Reintegration considers that this challenge shows again the need to consolidate the efforts of all the involved actors in order to settle the conflict without any delay, to provide security for the citizens and to guarantee their right to live in their own territory.” We do regretfully establish that in the XXI century’s Europe, people are still victims of a totalitarian regime’s wrongdoings, with their fundamental rights being violated, and their safety being threatened”, the quoted document also states.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) ordered to close down the polling station in Corjova village, after the Transnistrian militia blocked the second time in the last 2 weeks the unfolding of the electoral process. Previously, both the Chisinau authorities and the international community called on the parties to guarantee no obstacles in the unfolding of the electoral poll in the respective locality.
Corjova is the native village of President Vladimir Voronin.
