Chisinau assures there are no critical moments in providing eastern districts with oil products

There are some difficulties related to the import of oil products into the Transnistrian region, but these are not serious and are not caused by the Moldovan constitutional authorities. This and other aspects of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process were discussed in the July 25 meeting of the parliamentary platform for parliamentary consultation and control over the implementation of the reunification policy, IPN reports.

After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan said there are particular problems in the supply of the eastern districts with oil products, but a part of these are imported from Romania and anyway go through the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities and there are no critical situations in this regard. “The Moldovan side is ready to help solve the problems faced in any sector,” he stated.

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said the next meeting of the platform will center on the conception of a view or a strategy regarding the status of the Transnistrian region. A number of discussions on the issue are to be held during the next half a year and Parliament will provide more support to the Government in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.

The platform’s meeting was held in connection with the visit paid to Chisinau by Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
