The Bureau of Reintegration requested the OSCE Mission to Moldova to continue to monitor on the spot the illegal actions taken by Tiraspol. In the created conditions and given the lack of consensus in the Joint Control Commission over the illegally set up checkpoints, Chisinau insists on a prompt reaction to the situations that can escalate owing to the unilateral deterioration of the dialogue by Tiraspol, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic on July 15 had a meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch. “The general assessment of the situation shows that the positive capital accumulated in time in the Transnistrian settlement process is being eroded and the situation is turning negative and worrisome, especially as regards the human rights,” stated the official.
She mentioned a number of individual cases related to the repressive measures taken by the Transnistrian side against persons who asked for their right to expression, violation of the right to work of citizens from both sides of the Nistru, of the rights to health and to freedom movement.
The organization of the 2020-2021 school year amid the pandemic was a separate subject discussed in the meeting. A number of students go to schools situated on the left side of the Nistru. The travel restrictions imposed by Tiraspol were extended until September 30 and it is not clear when they could be lifted.
Cristina Lesnic repeatedly noted that the illegal checkpoints are not sanitary posts and the preliminary assessment of the risks showed they do not help the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol.
