Chisinau asks Moscow for details about Moldovan detained by FSB

The Moldovan Embassy asked the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide more information about the Moldovan man reportedly detained in the Crimean city of Kerch by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

“If it is confirmed that this is a citizen of Moldova, our diplomatic mission will provide him with all the necessary consular assistance in accordance with international legislation”, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Ria Novosti reported, quoting FSB sources, that the Moldovan was part of group of three agents working in Crimea for the Ukrainian military intelligence service.

According to the report, the Moldovan was born in 1992 and was previously convicted for theft in Ukraine. In April 2024, he was allegedly recruited by a Ukrainian intelligence officer to send photos and footage of the locations of military hardware and Russian air defense positions, Crimea’s transport and energy infrastructure facilities as well as of the aftermath of projectile strikes.
