The Chisinau Arena project, which is now about 70% complete, will be finished eventually, but it’s not known yet who will do it. According to President Igor Dodon, either the government will invest the money required to complete it, or if the state has other priorities, an investor will be found, IPN reports.
The president told a press conference there a special inquiry commission has already been set up to look into how the public tender was conducted to award the project. According to Igor Dodon, there are many suspicious and non-transparent decisions around Chisinau Arena.
“Apart from the fact that 70 hectares have been allocated, the government spent more than 200 million lei from the public budget. The complex itself is built on 10 hectares, but the state offers 60 extra for a so-called leisure area,” said Dodon.
The president says instructions have been to avoid losing ownership over the 70 hectares of land, but also to secure the financial investment made so far.
The Ministry of Economy will soon come up with a decision related to Chisinau Arena.
