Plates containing historical information will be put on the Chisinau buildings considered monuments of national and local importance. Lilian Carp, the head of the Chisinau Mayor General’s administration, said the plates will warn not only the people, but also the companies that illegally demolish the given constructions, Info-Prim Neo reports. The decision concerning the attachment and making of the plates is to be taken in concert with the institutions responsible for this sector. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said these plates will not fully stop the demolition of the historical buildings, but will inform the people about the buildings included in the State Register of Architectural Monuments. Dorin Chirtoaca believes that the destruction can be stopped only by imposing harsh penalties on the economic entities that pull these buildings down. The step was taken following the unauthorized demolition of an architectural monument located at the intersection of the Chisinau streets Columna and Banulescu Bodoni. The Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case against the company that owned the building. The investigation is to be completed in about two months.
