Chisinau and Tiraspol will implement four joint projects in the humanitarian and social spheres in May-June, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov told a news conference on Thursday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Within one of the projects, 100 children living on the right side of the Nistru will spend the holidays on the left side, while 100 children from the left side will rest on the right side. “They will interact and establish ties,” said Eugen Carpov. Another project concerns health protection and combating of such diseases as tuberculosis and AIDS. “Here in Chisinau, we have projects, programs and international support for fighting these diseases and we can extend them to the left side of the Nistru. Vaccination is a common aspect that will be thoroughly discussed,” said the Deputy Prime Minister. The third project aims to fluidize traffic, first of all along the bridge located in Gura Bacului village. In a meeting, experts assessed the investments needed for this bridge and the adjoining ways to be rehabilitated so that the traffic could be resumed. Within the fourth project, the procedures for crossing the internal checkpoints will be simplified for the summer period so that the people from the right bank could easier get to the left bank and go to the Black Sea in Ukraine. The restoration of fixed-line phone connection is another project that will cover a longer period. As to freight traffic, Eugen Carpov said that now that the freight train routes were restored, there are no obstacles to developing the economy on both sides of the river. The freight traffic through the Transistrian region was resumed after a six-year hiatus. The first train with 30 cars set off from Rybnitsa in the morning of April 26, loaded with metal products of the Metallurgical Plant to the value of 15 million lei.
