Chisinau and Tiraspol started to find solutions to the people’s problems related to social protection. They are identified and implemented within the joint working group on social protection and humanitarian aid, which aims to build confidence and strengthen security between the two sides of the Nistru River. The group’s coordinator on behalf of Chisinau Sergiu Sainciuc, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family, has told Info-Prim Neo that the members of the group representing Transnistria are open for cooperation and together find solutions to the social protection problems faced by the Transnistrians.
According to Sergiu Sainciuc, the joint project to receive and distribute a batch of humanitarian aid provided by British trade unions was a successful one. Within it, five trucks of aid were distributed to the people living on the right bank, while another five trucks to people living on the left bank of the Nistru, including to the Tiraspol-based psychiatric-neurological hospital.
In one of the next meetings, the group will adopt a mechanism whereby to regulate the period during which pension is paid. The Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family said this mechanism is needed so that the people who change the domicile from the left side to the right side of the Nistru or vice versa could benefit from pension on a permanent basis.
In 2012, the working group also plans to discuss problems concerning the social protection of children and their repatriation.
Two years ago, the official Chisinau and the Tiraspol administration decided to restore the confidence-building working groups.
