Chisinau and Suceava sign a cooperation agreement

A cooperation agreement, as a prime step to the friendship between Chisinau and Suceava, could be signed in the near future. Mayor of Suceava Ion Lungu and interim mayor of Chisinau Vasile Ursu reached this agreement few days ago, The town from Bucovina is about to establish a close friendship with the capital of Moldova, as a result of the mayor Ion Lungu’s visit to Chisinau, invited the last weekend to participate in the manifestations occasioned by celebrating the 570-th anniversary from the documentary attestation, as well as from the Chisinau Temple Day. Suceava councilor met Vasile Ursu to discuss this subject. Ambassador of Romania in Moldova Filip Teodorescu, head of the International Relations Division of Chisinau City Hall, Ion Capatana, vice mayor of Bucharest Razvan Murgeanu were present at the meeting. “We discussed with those present at the manifestations about the consolidation of the relations between Romania and Moldova, especially between Suceava and Chisinau. We are to sign a cooperation agreement in this respect, as a prime step to the friendship between the two towns”, Ion Lungu stated. Suceava’s mayor says that the friendship with Chisinau is a moral obligation, taking into account the common history of these towns. Suceava was one of the first towns that warmly received in 1990 the first students from the Republic of Moldova, who studied at the “Stefan cel Mare” University.
