Chisinau and Bucharest plead in favor of extending and strengthening bilateral cooperation relations
The official delegation of the Romanian Senate, which pays an official visit to the Republic of Moldova, met with the PM Vasile Tarlev and the president Vladimir Voronin. The necessity of strengthening bilateral relations between the two states was discussed at the meetings.
At the meeting with the president, Vladimir Voronin told about the importance of political consensus within the Moldovan Parliament in order to fulfill all strategic directions related to European integration and reunification of the R. Moldova, and other social economic development and strengthening objectives. The president specified that the priority of Parliament’s activity is adjusting the national legislation to the European one, Voronin, also referred to the last evolutions in settling the Transnistrian dispute. In this context, the head of the state qualified including the issue of frozen conflicts in the Black Sea area and southern Caucasian region and their impact on the international peace and security on the agenda of UN General Assembly, requested by Moldova and GUAM member states as a great diplomatic achievement.
At the meeting with PM Vasile Tarlev, the parties discussed about the social-economic and political situation from both countries, pleading in favor of expanding and strengthening collaboration relationship in the commercial-economic area and in all mutual interest fields. The head of the Cabinet Council emphasized the necessity of strengthening collaboration relationship in the commercial-economic field. The premier especially referred to implementing projects in the energetic field, such as constructing Balti-Suceava electric power line, identifying solutions and ways of diversifying energetic resources. Vasile Tarlev has also emphasized the opportunity of adjusting the legislative framework of both countries, in light of the close adhering of Romania to the European Union.
At the second meeting, Nicolae Vacaroiu underlined the interest of the Romanian side in intensifying the parliamentary contacts between the two countries and turning to good account the legislative dimension of the Moldovan-Romanian collaboration. The Chairman of the Romanian Senate mentioned about the broad range of problems which must be examined within this visit. Vacaroiu referred to the issue of reviving the cooperation mechanism between the two Parliaments, as well as to the issue of the new settlements the Romanian side must apply regarding Moldova in the context of the close adhering of Romania to EU.
Nicolae Vacaroiu expressed availability of the Romanian authorities to share with Moldova the experience which was accumulated in the process of negotiation and adhering to EU. As well, the chairman of the Romanian senate reiterated the standpoint of Bucharest, and namely supporting Moldova in settling the Transnistrian conflict.
