Chisinau Airport parking garage will be ready in two years
The parking garage of the Chisinau International Airport will be put into operation until the end of 2013. The contest to establish a public-private partnership to build the garage was launched late in November and the Economy Ministry’s Public Property Agency will accept offers until January 23, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Agency’s head Tudor Copaci told a news conference that a parking garage with at least 700 parking places, occupying an area of 7,500 square meters will be constructed within the project. The investments are projected to total about €5 million.
The possible private investor, or the concessionaire, will design and build the parking garage. Afterward, it will be able to develop the garage’s infrastructure and construct on the given territory restaurants and other commercial facilities that will enable to increase profitability.
In 20 years, the concessionaire will transfer the parking garage to the Public Property Agency. During the concession period, the private partner will pay a tax of minimum 2%, which the state can reinvest in developing and modernizing the airport.
The contest is open to private companies with a turnover of at least €4 million, at least five years’ experience in parking management and at least two projects implemented in the field.
A number of 73 public-private partnership projects have been launched over the last two years, especially in such areas as development of infrastructure and public services. The private partners in two of the projects were already selected.
Thirty public-private partnership projects in social constructions, sport, medicine, public facilities, IT and transport have been proposed for 2012. The investments in these projects will add up to about 1.5 billion lei.
