Chisinau Airport has a new owner

NR Investments Ltd, a Channel Islands property investment vehicle formed in 2007, has agreed to acquire 95% of the concession company of Chisinau International Airport.  Agreement was ratified today between representatives of Avia Invest LLC and NR Investments’ sole beneficiary, Nat Rothschild.

According to a press release from the new owner, NR Investments has an extensive experience in Central European property and infrastructure investments.  Prior investments include Porto Montenegro, an award-winning super yacht marina; Trigranit, Central Europe’s largest real estate developer; the Korda Studios film complex in Budapest, Hungary, as well as multiple stand-alone developments.

The buyer promises to offer further details in September.

At present, 16 airlines operate flights from Chisinau International Airport to 38 destinations that include London, Dublin, Paris, Istanbul and Moscow, among others. The Airport handled 2.8 million passengers in 2018, a 14.8% cumulative annual increase since 2010. In 2019 it is expected to surpass three million passengers.

The operations and management of Chisinau International Airport transferred to Avia Invest in November 2013, under a private-public partnership model. The concessionaire pledged to manage the airport for 49 years and invest 250 million euros in its modernization.
