Chisinau administration will update Register of Important Monuments
The authorities of Chisinau will bring up to date the Register of Important Monuments and will devise new regulations to protect these monuments. The decision was made by the Chisinau Municipal Council on Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The existing register was approved at the start of 1995. Since then, it has not been updated, though, according to the legislation, it must be reviewed once in three years.
Many monuments do not exist anymore, while others need to be restored, said the chief architect of Chisinau Vladimir Modarca. He also said that many monuments of municipal importance have been included in the register of national monuments and there is confusion. “We want to correct these mistakes,” he said.
The Chisinau Municipal Council approved the composition of the commission that will work out the register and regulations. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca was named chairman of the commission. Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu will act as deputy chairman. The members of the commission are experts in the field and include Vladimir Modarca.
