Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca told a news conference that the Municipal Council on September 30 will adopt the regulations concerning the payment of compensations, but will not annul the decision to raise the water and sewerage charges and the bus and trolleybus fares, Info-Prim Neo reports. The regulations specify the procedure for applying for compensations. The pensioners, invalids and employees with monthly incomes lower than 1,450 lei, as well as the unemployed, can submit the necessary documents to the General Social Assistance Division as from October 1, 2009. Besides the application that is signed on the spot and the copy of the identity card, the applicants must also present: the pensioners – the pensioner's card; the invalids – the invalid's card; the employees – the salary certificate from the workplace; the unemployed – the certificate showing that they are out of work. The students will receive free season tickets on the basis of the student's card. The compensation of 70 lei will be added to the pension and invalid's benefit every month. “The pensioners and invalids will get pensions and benefits by 70 lei larger,” Chirtoaca said. “We want that the local budget turns from budget for covering the costs incurred by companies into investment budget that will finance the repair and construction of new streets, bridges, aqueducts and kindergartens,” the mayor said. According to him, 30,000 to 50,000 applications for compensations will be lodged with the City Hall.
