Chisinau administration will hoist 150 new flags on City Day
The Chisinau City Hall purchased 150 new flags of the European Union and of Moldova. The standards will be hoisted on the City Day in the centre of the capital – in the Great National Assembly Square and along Stephan the Great Boulevard.
The new flags cost 57,000 lei. Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca told reporters on Monday that this time the seller provided guarantees that the material from which the flags are made is resistant to unfavourable weather conditions.
The standards of poorer quality bought last year will be raised on the other boulevards of Chisinau. At the City Hall’s meeting, the district heads said that most of these flags have been refurbished.
After the flags acquired last year will be hoisted, it will become evident whether the sum of 600,000 lei spent on them was reasonable or not, Dorin Chirtoaca said. Earlier, the mayor threatened with sanctions if misuse of power is ascertained or irregularities are identified. The police will be notified in case economic offences are discovered.
Last year, a number of the municipal councillors intended to notify the municipal Prosecutor’ Office and ask the interim mayor Vasile Ursu to report how the 600,000 lei was spent.
