Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the persons in charge to work out a program for the rehabilitation of the Chisinau lakes and the Byk River within a month. The beds of the lakes are to be cleaned, while their banks laid out, the mayor said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu stated a project to clean the bed of the Byk was designed in 2010, but it could not be implemented as their wasn’t worked out a project to lay out the banks. ”About 700,000 lei will be earmarked in the draft budget for finishing the works started in 2006 and 2007,” said the deputy mayor. A tender contest will be held to select the contractor that will rehabilitate the Byk River. The Chisinau administration promises to complete the works in Valea Morilor Park in spring. Afterward, the lake will fill with water naturally.
