Chisinau administration started to stop up streets
The Public Transport and Communications Division began to stop up the streets in Chisinau. “The works will be done manually. Owing to the low temperatures, we cannot perform mechanized works. The six special vehicles are ready for work, but they cannot be used as there is ice on the roadside,” said the Division’s head Adrian Boldurescu, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
As to street marking, the head of the municipal company “Exdrupo” Efim Cheptanari said the spare parts needed to repair the marking equipment have been bought and the works will start in March.
“We will begin marking the streets when the weather permits. We have two large prices of equipment for longitudinal lines and two small pieces of equipment for crosswalks. A sum of €60,000 is needed to purchase the equipment used to mark the streets with thermoplastic, which is more resistant,” said Efim Cheptanari.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asked that the costs of the woks be determined by the next meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials so as to design the action plan. He recommended that the works should be performed at night, when the traffic is not so heavy.
