The Chisinau administration and the mayor’s office of Tantareni are close to reaching a compromise as to the storage of garbage at the local waste dump, but a number of legal and financial aspects are yet to be agreed, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy mayor of Chisinau Vlad Cotet said the cleanup company “Autosalubritate” may resume the transportation of garbage to the waste dump in Tantareni, Anenii Noi, but only after it changes its status and after the storage tax is decided. “According to the current status, the company cannot sign a contract with the mayor’s office of Tantareni. Only the founder of “Autosalubritate”, which is the Chisinau Municipal Company, can do it. Another problem is the tax that is to be paid to the mayor’s office for depositing the waste on the outskirts of the village,” the deputy mayor said in the February 11 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials. “Autosalubritate” director Tudor Maniv said that when the waste dump is transferred under the management of the mayor’s office of Tantareni, the Anenii Noi district authorities will also have to pay a tax for the waste storage services. After the contract with the Tantareni mayor’s office is signed, the municipality will propose several variants of tariffs. Initially, the price of a tonne of waste taken to the waste dump was 100 lei. But afterward, the tax varied between 20 to 40 lei per tonne and this dissatisfied the village administration.
