Chisinau administration promises to finish preparations for winter in apartment blocks by October 1

The authorities of the capital city promise to complete the preparation of the municipal housing sector for winter by October 1. They committed themselves to finishing the registration of passports for the supply of heat. The heating season is set to start on October 15. Some 60% of the apartment blocks run by the municipal enterprises administering the housing sector and only 5% of the buildings managed by the Associations of Privatized Dwelling Owners and House Building Cooperatives have received passports to supply heat so far. Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Ghirtoaca said that the City Hall will help the abovementioned Associations and Cooperatives to obtain technical passports in the shortest period of time. The heat supplier Termocom SA warned that all the administrators of the housing sector must have passports by October 10. Otherwise, the supply of heat will be postponed. The municipal housing sector (2,842 residential blocks) is supplied with heat through the centralized system. A number of 1,620 blocks are administered by the municipal enterprises administering the housing sector, 622 by the Associations of Privatized Dwelling Owners, 320 by the House Building Cooperatives; 234 are departmental blocks and 237 are private houses. There are 4 684 apartment blocks in the municipality of Chisinau overall. A number of 1,643 of them are supplied with hot water in a centralized way.
