Chisinau administration intends to close local outhouses
A project to replace the outhouses with sanitary facilities connected to the sewerage system may be implemented in Chisinau with the assistance of a German investor in the near future, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Though we are in the 21st century and want a European capital, about 17% of the territory of the municipality of Chisinau is not outfitted with sewerage and water supply systems,” said the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. He stressed that the outhouses at education and medical institutions will be the first to be removed. Afterward, there will be replaced the outhouses of the housing stock.
Zinaida Popescu, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said most of these outdoor toilets do not work. Only the suburban education institutions continue to use them.
The head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said there are 95 outhouses in Chisinau's housing sector at present.
“I hope the German partner will help us deal with this problem and we will soon get rid of it,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
